Serge & Sharmila Wedding Story

First of all, thank you for sharing my story and I am happy to give my two cents to help our pretty future brides.

I definitely went through all the planning, talking, lots of researching, stressing that every bride goes through to ensure her big day is as special as it could be.

It was definitely a bit challenging to plan all of my events from United States but I was really lucky to have worked with very nice professionals.

Soon after my parents finalized the dates, I approached A Ibrahim anna to make sure he is available. I totally considered it my first win to book him. I really had no one else in my mind to do my makeup other than him and I was so glad I chose him. He did a fabulous job and my pictures speak for themselves

My next step was to find the photographers to capture our wedding moments for a lifelong memory. Of course, I could not think of anyone other than Zero Gravity Photography. My best friend who was helping me with my wedding planning from India did not give me any other option. It was super easy to finalize with them and they were very nice to work with. Ajay and Vikas (founders of ZG) built a very good rapport which made it very comfortable to work with them.

I was very lucky to have Suganya Babu founder of S Studio design my clothes for outdoor photoshoots, mehendi, sangeeth ,reception and wedding. She took care of everything. A great piece of advice: find that one designer whom you can totally trust and rely on to look amazing on your big day. Suganya, who was actually my professor at college turned out to be my best friend and the best designer I could ever find. She worked late hours with me to make sure I am happy with what she was designing.

We had so much fun at our sangeet. We and our friends and family practiced for Sangeet incorporating songs in all the languages we speak. Sringa from Kabooki Makeup Artistry did my make up for my sangeet and did a great job hosting the sangeet.

I went with Madras Mehndi Studio for mehendi. I loved the intricate designs by Sujitha. She was very creative and patient

All my sarees were from the one and only Babu Sha (Kanchipuram). I made my life a little easy by deciding my wedding saree color even before I started looking at their wide range of collections. I was happy to get a very unique combination of colors and a beautiful design in my wedding saree. After all the browsing, I decided I have to go on a hunt for a navy blue velvet Lehenga for my Reception (yes, I was particular about the color too) and I found what I was looking for at Rang Roop (Shanti Colony). I also found my Sangeet outfit at the same store.  My husband found his reception outfit at Moksha which totally complimented my outfit. We stuck to the velvet fabric theme which gave a very rich look to our outfits and complemented our wedding reception background. With not a lot of time left to shop, deciding the color and fabric helped make it easy for us to decide. My husband shopped at Manyavar and Louis Philippe for all the other events. We shopped at Sri Chamundi Jewel Palace and Saravana Stores Thanga Nagai Maligai for jewelry.

We chose Maldives for our honeymoon and the beauty of nature did not fail to impress us. We took almost every means of transportation to get there: local airplane, speed boat, buggies. We stayed at the Park Hyatt resort on Hadahaa island. We were so relaxed and one with the nature. It was a great finish to our fabulous wedding experience.

A huge thanks to all my friends and families in India and USA who have helped me in every possible way and thanks to Ezwed for inspiring me with great ideas and trends.
